I wanted to let everyone know the results of our straw polls. First
the poll was conducted during our meeting on December 16.th Coming in
first place was Ron Paul with 44% of the vote. Second was Fred
Thompson with 17%, tied for third was Mike Huckabee and Tom Tancredo,
each with 11% of the vote. John McCain had 6% and tied for last, each
with 3% were Jerry Curry, Duncan Hunter and Mitt Romney. Undecided
also received 3% of the vote. Perhaps the most interesting statistic
was that 25% said they changed their decision based on hearing our
debate.
Now for the e-mail poll which included a much larger sampling. Winning
the e-mail poll was again Ron Paul with 45% of the vote. Second was
Mike Huckabee with 17% and Duncan Hunter came in at 15%. Right behind
Hunter was Fred Thompson at 14% and then there was as significant drop
off as Rudy Guliani received 5%, Tom Tancredo had 3% and Mitt Romney
got 2%. John McCain received no votes on the e-mail poll.
I have had several people e-mail me wanting to know my perspective on
the race. I proclaimed support well over a year ago for Tom Tancredo.
A few weeks ago I began to believe he wasn't getting much traction and
knew the need to begin to look for another candidate to support.
Congressman Tancredo dropped out last week which confirmed my
perspective on his campaign. I will discuss the difficult decision as
to who I have decided to support in the next e-mail.
I hope everyone has obtained a calender for 2008. More importantly, I
hope everyone will begin to use their calenders to write down
important events for the up-coming year. Let me mention two events I
hope everyone will record and attend if possible.
Saturday, January 19,th Oklahomans For Sovereignty and Free Enterprise
(OK-SAFE) will present the second DEFENDING AMERICAN SOVEREIGNTY
conference. The first one was held in Tulsa this past September. We
will have 6 top notch speakers for the Edmond conference. It will be
held in the Hardeman Auditorium on the campus of Oklahoma Christian in
Edmond. Doors will open at 8:00 a.m. for registration with the
speakers from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The cost will be $20 for a
single person or $30 for two members from the same family.
The next event will be held on Super Tuesday, February 5.th Folks will
need to vote then head to Tulsa if possible. Speaking at the Mabee
Center on the campus of ORU will be former Mexican President Vicente
Fox talking about "Bringing the New Economy to Latin America." The
speech is sponsored by OSU and will begin at 4:00 p.m. You can bet he
will be pushing the SPP and the creation of a North American Union,
though he may use other words to describe it. Some of us are already
planning on expressing a different opinion using our free speech
rights expressed on picket signs. I will speak more on these subjects
in the days to come.
One final item. Everyone except those having their checking accounts
drafted on a monthly basis will have their membership expire on
December 31.st It will be necessary to renew for 2008. We will have a
lot on our plate this year as we choose the candidates we want to help
elect to office in the state legislature as well as those running for
statewide office. To join OCPAC please follow the instructions below.
Thanks for your time and attention.

I first want to wish everyone to have a merry and meaningful
Christmas. December 25th is traditionally the time most of
Christianity celebrates the birth of Jesus, the Christ. In America, we
traditionally exchange gifts during Christmas among family members and
sometimes among close friends. I would suggest, since it is a birthday
celebration, that perhaps the most important gift to give this year
would be a gift to Jesus.
Let me presume as to what Jesus would want for his birthday? Jesus was
God incarnate in the flesh. Since God already owns the cattle on a
thousand hills as well as anyTHING else He might want, there is
probably only one gift man can present to God which will please Him.
That would be when an individual DECIDES to give up being the
rebellious captain of his own life and decides to make a willful
choice to respond to the invitation from Jesus to allow him to be the
Master or Lord of an individual's life. When we respond with that
heart change as a gift to Jesus, our whole perspective on life as well
as our behavior will begin to change. That, as a result of the
relationship we begin to develop with Father God, Creator of the
Universe through Jesus in the power of His Holy Spirit. Again have a
great Christmas.
We will meet for our weekly OCPAC luncheon this Wednesday, 12 noon, in
our new location which is Chen's Buffet, in the Windsor Hills Shopping
Center 23rd and North Meridian in OKC. This week's meeting will
feature a debate of sorts between Nathaniel Batchelder, director of
Oklahoma City's Peace House and Charlie Meadows, Chairman of OCPAC.
Nathaniel recently sent an e-mail response to me regarding one of the
OCPAC e-mails. It was well written and covered a variety of subjects.
I suggested we have this meeting where we will take the points he made
and discuss them in a public forum. Following our discussion anyone
present will be able to ask questions of either of us. Richard Engle,
OCPAC Vice-Chairman will moderate the meeting.
While I frequently disagree with Nathaniel on most issues, there are
perhaps a few points we will agree on. It is our hope the meeting will
be educational as well as interesting. There are a couple of
descriptions which I believe well describes the members of OCPAC.
First is, "we have a reputation of being tough but not mean." In
addition, "Conservatives and Constitutionalists we love and liberals
we enjoy." With those thoughts in mind, it pretty well covers about
anyone who might come to, or speak at, an OCPAC meeting. If you are in
town, you will not want to miss this meeting.
A big thanks to Thad Balkman, Jason Reese, David Weston, Aaron
Ramburg, Jerry Brown, Charles Key, Richard Engle and Bobby Cleveland
for representing their particular choice for President. Their efforts
made a really great meeting this past Wednesday. I will announce the
outcome of the poll this Wednesday and then in the next e-mail the
outcome of our meeting's poll as well as what I am receiving by e-
mail. Anyone receiving this e-mail may send me the name of the
Republican presidential candidate of your choice. Please do so as soon
as possible as I want to close this down this week. Send your pick and
your name to: charliemeadows@peoplepc.com.
In this week's edition of the Oklahoma Gazette, they again made the
mistake of running a commentary article by Ben Fenwick as if it were a
news item. I have no problem with Mr. Fenwick expressing his opinion
in a column, it just shouldn't be presented as news. He attended the
recent Rule of Law Rally which I believe gave him a convenient
opportunity to try and paint patriotic Americans concerned about the
future of our nation, as a result of the unbridled invasion of illegal
aliens, as hate mongers. It only takes Fenwick until the second
paragraph to use the word Nazi as he references the dubious
organization on the left, the Southern Poverty Law Center.
The fact that Fenwick would use a quote that "Oklahoma's new law
TARGETS Hispanics" just goes to show that Fenwick is either
intellectually dishonest or too ignorant to be a columnist. The law
does NOT, let me repeat, does NOT target any ethnic group or people
from any particular country. The law targets illegal aliens regardless
from which country they come. The law does "affect" Hispanics and
especially people from Mexico more than people from any other ethnic
background or country because we have many more illegal aliens in
Oklahoma from Mexico than any other country. That is the affect of the
law, not the target of the law.
There was one positive part of his article. Under the sub-title, "The
Progression of Hate," Fenwick presented a picture of a model created
by the FBI intended to track the development of hate groups. I want to
examine some of that model and how it applies.
Stage 1: THE HATERS GATHER "Peer validation bolsters a sense of self-
worth... Further, individuals otherwise ineffective become empowered
when they join groups." We sure saw that happen all over America when
hundreds of thousands supporting illegal aliens grouped together in
rallies claiming unstoppable power.
Stage 2: THE HATE GROUP DEFINES ITSELF "Hate groups form identities
through symbols, rituals and mythologies, which enhance the members'
status and, at the same time, degrade the object of their hate." We
sure saw that happen as they flew their Mexican flags, made posters
and had printed t-shirts which proclaimed: "MEXICAN! NOT LATINO NOT
HISPANIC. We also saw many of them giving the communist power salute
and in other cases making posters of Governor Swartznager or
Congressman Sensenbrenner dressed up in Nazi uniforms. It is really
easy to see the hate in the pictures of their gatherings.
Stage 3: THE HATE GROUP DISPARAGES THE TARGET "Hate is the glue that
binds haters to one another and to a common cause. By verbally
debasing the object of their hate, haters enhance their self-image."
Again it is easy to see this stage working in their midst as they
proclaimed "all Europeans are illegal" "continente robado" (stolen
continent) and with the co-founder of the La Raza Unida Party,
political science professor from the University of Texas, Arlington
proclaiming: "We have got to eliminate the gringo (white American),
and what I mean by that is that if the worst comes to the worst, we
have got to kill him."
There is more, I simply would suggest picking up a copy of the
Gazette. The problem with Fenwick, if he were worth his salt as a
columnist he would have attended rallies supporting illegal aliens if
he wanted to find some people with their hearts full of hate. People
with hate in their hearts weren't at the recent "RULE OF LAW RALLY."
If you have not seen the pictures of hate I am talking about, I will
spread them out on a table at this Wednesday's meeting for everyone to
see.
I am very pleased with the performance of Oklahoma County District
Attorney David Prater on one issue and disappointed with him on
another. Fist the good. This past week, Judge Virgil Black handed down
a stiff sentence (with a possibility of review) to a young woman who
pleaded guilty in September to second degree murder charge regarding
the still-born death of her baby.
She had been addicted to Meth and twice during her pregnancy turned
down offers for re-habilitation. The charges were originally filed by
former Republican D.A., Wes Lane. With the election of Democrat Prater
there was a concern as to whether or not Prater would drop the charges
or vigorously prosecute the accused murder. Inside sources informed me
Prater received significant pressure from local as well as national
interests that didn't want to see this woman go to trial for murdering
her UNBORN baby. To his credit, Prater hung in there and took the
heat. Good Job Mr. Prater.
Now for the bad. A few weeks ago a homosexual man was lured away from
the homosexual haven of the 39th and North Penn area of OKC. He was
later found dead with one of the alleged murders now dead and the
other in jail, charged with murder. As much as I disagree with
homosexuality, this was an evil act and if the fellow in jail is found
to be guilty, I hope he gets the needle.
Unfortuantely, this tragic murder has opened the floodgates of renewed
calls for increased "hate-crimes" legislation which would include
sexual orientation. Unfortunately D.A. Prater is on board calling for
expanded hate-crimes legislation. I believe all hate crime legislation
should be eliminated.
Hate is about the motive for a CRIME, hate in itself is not a crime.
Hate is what is in a persons heart and mind. Often times people
struggle to eliminate or suppress the hate within. Are we as a society
ready to impose strict penalties upon people for their feelings when
they never give in to those feelings or impulses? Society should have
appropriate penalties for criminal acts, not for a persons inner
struggles.
In reality, the more we have hate-crimes legislation expand and
prosecuted in the courts, the more it really becomes the
criminalization of speech. We especially see this in Canada where the
law is being used to threaten and intimidate pastors from standing
behind a pulpit and preaching that homosexuality is a sin. Unless a
homosexual realizes that their behavior is a sin, then comes to the
Lordship of Christ and repents from such behavior, how does that
person stand a chance of escaping what Jesus called "the second
death?" How will they know unless someone tells them?
I look forward to seeing everyone this Wednesday.

The power is back on at our new meeting place so we are on for our
presidential representative forum for this week's meeting. Remember we
have changed locations to, Chen's Buffet, located in the Windsor Hills
Shopping Center, 23rd and North Meridian in OKC. Our meeting will
start at 12 noon. The price for lunch which includes all you can eat,
tax and tip is $7.50 if you drink water and $9.00 if you want a drink.
We will have representatives for all the Republican presidential
candidates with the possible exception of Rudy Guiliani. Terry Neese
will not be able to represent Guiliani, but her assistant is trying to
find someone else. If anyone reading this e-mail is a Guiliani
supporter and would be willing to represent him this Wednesday, please
contact me as soon as possible at my home phone (405) 282-8711 or
charliemeadows@peoplepc.com. There was a surprise candidate that filed
in Oklahoma, retired General Jerry Curry, a former aid to Ronald
Reagan. He will have a representative present and will be in Oklahoma
on a Wednesday in January and will be our speaker while here.
In addition, many have e-mailed me with their pick for president. If
you have not done so as yet please do so now. During our meeting the
only ones allowed to vote will be our dues paying members but you do
not have to be a member of OCPAC to vote on line. We will keep our
members straw poll who vote during our meeting separate from those who
vote by sending me an e-mail. Please put your name and your pick up
front as I may not have time to read a letter as to why you have made
your choice. By the way, your information will be kept confidential,
your name is required to keep from having duplication. Again send you
information to me at charliemeadows@peoplepc.com.
We ended up having a great meeting this past Wednesday. Mitchell Shaw,
area coordinator with the John Birch Society, was in town and told a
few things that are going on with the Society. In addition, we had 2
lawmakers present to tell us a little about proposed legislation.
Perhaps the most interesting aspect of the meeting was the presence of
Martin Burcharth, the U.S. Correspondent with the Danish newspaper
INFORMATI'ON, located in Copenhagen.
Mr. Martin is permanently stationed in Boston and flew into OKC
Tuesday night to spend 3 days interviewing conservatives in Oklahoma
regarding the Republican presidential primaries. I had him tell us a
little about Denmark, its cultural makeup as well as talk about his
objectives as a foreign correspondent. He interviewed several of those
in attendance before heading to Tulsa. He promised to send us a paper
once it is published. However, it will be in Danish. Can anyone
reading this e-mail act as a translator? If so please contact me.
About 3 years ago we had a correspondent from a newspaper in Tokyo,
Japan come through and do a story about conservatives in a red state.
I was able to get that translated which was quite interesting.
About 10 days ago The Wall Street Journal published another article
criticizing Oklahoma Attorney General Drew Edmondson for his attempt
to criminally prosecute 3 people. They were the ones who led the way
to gather signatures for the TABOR and Eminent Domain petitions a
little over a year ago. If I understand it correctly, Edmondson
answered previous criticisms for his actions by claiming he was just
following the lead of a Grand Jury. However, he dismissed their
findings and then re-filed the charges from his own office. Many
believe he is on a political "witch hunt" to scare the "heck" out of
anyone contemplating future petition drives in Oklahoma.
There just may more truth in that than anyone can imagine. I received
a call over the weekend form the folks in charge of the recently
finished petition drive to end the unfair hiring and bidding
preferences regarding government jobs as well as admission standards
to government colleges based upon a person's race, gender, color of
their skin or ethnic background. I was told the petition organizers
had strong evidence that a couple of the signature gatherers had
forged several hundred names on the petitions. The went to Attorney
General Edmondson's office with the evidence and they were shocked
that his staff seemed "uninterested" in the matter. If I am not
mistaken, to sign someone else's name to a petition in Oklahoma is a
felony offense. Does this mean Edmondson's office could care less
about a lowly signature gatherer, but wants to "fry" someone with the
means to organize a petition drive?
Sunday's Oklahoman published a column by State Senator Mike Morgan (D-
Stillwater) titled "'Bully' pulpit gone wrong." It was a rancorous
attack upon Representative Randy Terrill, as seems to be the popular
thing to do these days. However, this wasn't primarily about Terrill's
legislation regarding the illegal aliens, but about a warning from
Terrill toward one of the Regents of Higher Education. It seems the
Regent was complaining about legislation passed last year which would
prevent a student from having their tuition paid (through the OHLAP
program) if they come from a home with a annual family income of
$99,000.
Terrill suggested a performance audit for Higher Ed if the Regent
didn't stop whining about the legislative changes. Terrill was correct
in throwing down the gauntlet. Higher Ed wouldn't be satisfied if the
entire budget went to them. Republicans will never be able to continue
to reduce the tax burden on Oklahomans if they don't get control of
run-away spending such as what is occurring in Higher Ed.
Terrill has been a proponent of the program in its original design for
students from lower to moderate income families to be able to have an
EASIER opportunity to attend college by having their tuition paid.
However, as with most things the government gets into, it begins the
process of "mission creep." My only disagreement with Terrill is that
I don't believe the government run colleges should be supported on the
front end through direct appropriations to colleges and then again on
the back end where the taxpayers are also expected to pick up the
tuition. Is it morally right to force one person to pay the tuition of
a neighbor, who in turn may use the sheep skin to then have a hiring
advantage over the neighbor who paid his tuition? Want to know one
reason tuition is rising so fast? It is because the taxpayers are
picking up an ever increasing amount of that cost.
If the taxpayers are going to support Higher Ed, as our State
Constitution requires us to do, then it ought to be either on the
front end or the back end, but not both. My preference would be on the
back end only. To accomplish that, I would suggest we put all of our
colleges and universities on the auction block which would make them
all privately owned. In a revenue neutral move, Oklahoman students
would then have large tuition credits to attend ANY private school in
Oklahoma of their choice. The proceeds from the sale of our colleges
and universities could go for road and bridge improvements, reduce the
state debt and improve the teacher retirement fund.
A few weeks back I announced that U.S. Representatives Mary Fallin and
Frank Lucas had both become co-signers on the Fair Tax legislation.
That meant both U.S. Senators, Inhofe and Coburn along with all of our
Representatives from Oklahoma with the exception of Tom Cole had
become co-sponsors. If Cole were to sign on as a co-sponsor, Oklahoma
would become the first state in the union for the entire delegation to
sign on. I recently received an e-mail from an Oklahoma volunteer with
the Fair Tax movement regarding a response he had received from
Congressman Cole. It seems as if Cole indicated that he "holds a
Republican leadership position" and does not want to offend
Republicans who have not yet supported the bill.
What a lame excuse. Want to know what real leaders do? They lead, they
don't HIDE behind excuses or follow. Real leaders get the scoop on an
issue then try to persuade others to do what is right in a situation.
Of course, maybe Cole is really against the Fair Tax. After all such a
reform of the tax codes would take real power away from lawmakers to
control the lives of taxpayers through the tax codes. It would also
reduce the cost of anything made in America and thus make everything
we make more competitive on a global market. Maybe Cole doesn't care
about America becoming more competitive and thus improving our
economy. If you have not read the FAIR TAX book by Congress Linder and
radio talk show host Neil Boortz then you owe it to yourself to
understand this issue. In February a sequel will be published to
answer every objection raised about the tax reform. Many conservatives
underestimate the value behind shifting to a national consumption tax
rather than our present income tax. Cole's constituents need to know
he is hiding under the rocks on this issue. He needs to become a
leader and be the last one in Oklahoma to sign on with the Fair Tax.
During the most recent Republican debate, the CNN - You Tube event,
the largest audience response on a policy issue ever recorded by CNN
came after Governor Huckabee promoted the Fair Tax. It is too bad some
of the others haven't made as strong a commitment to the Fair Tax as
Huckabee as it is certainly one of the reasons he has begun to
separate himself from the rest of the pack.
For the second time a Federal Judge has tossed out a case against HB
1804, the legislation passed earlier this year for the State of
Oklahoma to clamp down on the illegal alien issue. This is really good
news. However, I won't be too surprised to see either the State
Chamber of Commerce or perhaps the National Chamber file some kind of
a suit against the legislation in the not too distant future.
Speaking about the issue of illegal aliens, I have to get a box of
kleenex out almost every time I sit down to read the Oklahoman. I am
afraid the Oklahoman may run out of ink printing emotional stories
about the stinging effects of the legislation. On December 11th they
ran a story titled: "Capitol Hill feels effect of HB 1804." For those
not familiar with the OKC area, Capitol Hill may need to some day
change its name to "little Mexico." The gist of the article was about
the sting businesses are feeling as more and more illegal aliens move
out of state and of course the "fear" the community is living under. I
did think one statement was sad. One businessman interviewed in the
article said: "They tell me they feel threatened by 1804." "Even the
documented ones feel threatened. They feel they don't want immigrants
in Oklahoma."
The reason that is sad it that the intent of those supporting 1804 has
never been toward legal immigrants. It has always been about those who
are here illegally, regardless of their country of origin. If
immigrants really feel that way, it is because they have been
listening to the inflammatory rhetoric and disinformation of their own
leaders and other opponents of 1804.
I look forward to seeing everyone this Wednesday.

ATTENTION !!! The new location (Chen's Buffet 23rd and North Meridian)
for our meeting was closed when I went by Tuesday afternoon because of
the ice storm. Therefore, we are going to re-schedule our meeting in
which we have representatives of the presidential candidates as the
program for our meeting.
We will still meet this Wednesday but we will not have a planned
program. It will just be a time of visiting and fellowship. I will be
at Chen's Buffet at 11:00 a.m. If they are open we will meet there, if
not I will put a sign on the door with the alternative location. The
alternative will be close by as I wouldn't expect a large number of
folks. There are a couple of restaurants close by that were open today
with smaller rooms.
Sorry for the last minute decision, I am sending this notice out from
a remote location as we lost power at our home this morning.
Anyone may still vote for their preferred presidential candidate
throughout the next week. However, you will need to send me an e-mail
directly as google groups will not forward a message sent as a reply
to the OCPAC e-mails.
Send you vote to: charliemeadows@peoplepc.com

NOTICE, NOTICE, we are changing our location. We will now be meeting,
12 noon at Chen's Buffet, located in the Windsor Hills Shopping
Center, 23rd and North Meridian. Our old room held a cramped 74, this
room will hold 94 with larger tables and room to sit more comfortably.
The restaurant is cleaner, has much better lighting and a heater that
works in the winter and an air conditioner that will work in the
summer. The meal with water will cost $7.50 and if you want a drink it
will cost $9.00. These prices include taxes and tip. I tried to
negociate a better price for someone having a drink, but to no avail.
This is a little more expensive, but maybe that is why this restaurant
is in better condition. This will take about 4 to 5 minutes longer to
arrive for anyone coming from the East or North. It will be about the
same time for those coming from the South and will be a little closer
for those coming from the West. The restaurant is 1.2 miles West of
I-44 on Northwest 23rd street.
This week's meeting will feature representatives of the various
presidential candidates, each taking 3 minutes to tell us why we
should rally around their particular candidate. Following their talks,
we will allow the representatives to draw distinctions between their
candidate and the others. We will also have the representatives defend
their particular candidate. All of our members will be given a straw
poll ballot. In addition I want to throw it open for everyone
receiving this e-mail to be able to vote for their favorite candidate.
Just send me an e-mail with your name and your choice. Be sure to put
that up front because I probably won't have time to read a letter
about why you are supporting who you are. Your name is needed to
prevent duplicate voting. We will keep the tally of those voting by e-
mail separate from those attending our meeting.
I don't have it confirmed as yet, but hopefully representing Rudy
Giuliani will be Terry Neese, a very accomplished business woman who
has been a mover and shaker in national politics as well as a former
candidate for Lt. Governor. Representing Mike Huckabee will be David
Weston. David has worked for the party under 2 different state
chairmen and had the opportunity to drive Governor Huckabee around the
state when he was doing fund raisers for the state party. Representing
Duncan Hunter will be Jerry Brown. Jerry ran for Governor as an
Independent in 1986 when the people of Oklahoma showed their bad
judgement and elected Henry Bellmon. Jerry later became the Republican
nominee for the Corporation Commission. Representing John McCain will
be Jason Reese. Jason is an attorney and a published columnist.
Representing Ron Paul will be State Representative Charles Key.
Representing Mitt Romney will be former State Representative Thad
Balkman, who now serves as Executive Director of the 100 Ideas
Campaign. Representing Tom Tancredo will be Dan Howard from Tulsa. Dan
is a former highway patrolman who founded and hosts the Outraged
Patriots radio program in the Tulsa area. Representing Fred Thompson
will be Richard Engle. Richard is the former President of the National
Federation of Republican Assemblies and has served as Vice Chairman of
OCPAC since our inception.
I will moderate the program with the intention of making it as fair as
possible for every representative present. I would suggest every
representative has a sincere reason as to why they represent their
particular candidate. We all should respect those preferences and give
them a fair chance to make their points. Primary races are often more
important than the general election and I believe we should all try to
make a quality decision. I predict no other event like this will occur
in Oklahoma unless a local TV station decides to do something like we
are doing. You won't want to miss this meeting.
Citizens who live anywhere in the city limits of Oklahoma City will
vote this Tuesday on perhaps the largest bond package in the history
of the city. I would support some of the bond measures if I lived in
the city and others I would be strongly opposed to. Without a higher
sales tax base with adequate amounts dedicated to infrastructure, it
is unreasonable to expect a large growing city to keep up without a
bond issue for streets, bridges, water and sewers.
I would vote YES on proposition 1 even though I am bothered by the
trails and sidewalks being included with streets as they should have
been a different item. I would vote YES on 2 as city bridges are a
proper function of city government. I would also vote YES on 3 and 4
as traffic, drainage and flood control are also proper functions of
city government.
However, I would vote NO on proposition 5. Mayor Cornett said "Once
you go to White Water (Bay), the neighborhood park just doesn't cut it
anymore." In reality, this is an area where the city is competing
against those in the private sector which is immoral. If government
would give liability protection to the private sector, the market
would provide the number of parks necessary and the taxpayers would
have that heavy burden off their backs. There is another reason which
I will explain later regarding all the no votes.
I would vote NO on 6. I am not against building more fire stations but
the city used money from the police and fire capital improvement fund
to build the Bass Pro store. I would vote YES on 7 as that fund was
never intended to build or remodel a project as large as the police
station. I would vote NO on 8 as libraries could and should be
supported in the private sector. Besides that, they wasted way too
much money on the downtown library in the MAPS project. I would
probably vote NO on 9 as $20 million appears to be too much to make
IMPROVEMENTS on a maintenance facility. I don't trust that a good deal
of this might be wasted or siphoned off to something else.
I would certainly vote NO on 10 as I believe if a city plans to have
public transportation, the users of such should be willing to pay the
necessary user fees to support that form of transportation. The costs
of these programs should not be on the backs of the vast majority of
people who will never use them. Until our population density is
sufficient for the users to support public transportation, those
people who need to get around but don't have the necessary means
should get their help from family or friends. Of course helping those
could also be a great ministry for churches or projects for civic
clubs.
The other reason I mentioned for voting NO on the ones before
mentioned is to do otherwise is to reward the city for its immoral
involvement with the Bass Pro Shop in Bricktown. The city borrowed
from 3 funds to build the Store knowing the "sweetheart rent deal"
Bass Pro was getting would not be enough to repay the loans. Therefore
they entered the deal expecting the difference to be made up by the
sales taxs generated by the store and every additional penny of sales
taxes generated as a result of Bass Pro being in Bricktown. As I have
said, because of the way the deal was done, for the next 20 years, all
of the before mentioned sales taxes will have to go to pay back the
loan and can't be used for city services they now want bond money for.
I would certainly vote NO and if necessary "HECK" NO on proposition
11. This is the one the group paying for all the advertisement speaks
of as jobs. If 11 passes the citizens will put $75 million dollars in
the hands of the "good ole boy central planners" to throw around
however they want. I suspect the advocates of these bond issues have
raised several hundred thousand dollars to promote the issues through
the various sources of media. If I were a betting man, I would suggest
some of the people putting thousands of dollars into the propaganda
campaign will, within the next 5 years, be reaping millions of dollars
in the form of subsidies for future "for profit" projects they will
own or develop. Not too bad a deal, put in a few thousand of your own
money today and reap millions of taxpayer dollars tomorrow. Of course
if those projects are profitable, the taxpayers will never share in
the profits, just the good ole boys. The only thing the taxpayers get
to share in is the risk. They will subsidize a good ole boy with the
tax dollars of his competitor who will be forced to pay those taxes.
The bond issues will probably pass as there is no organized
opposition. The advocates are telling everyone it will not increase
taxes as these bonds are simply replacing bonds that are now retiring.
What they are NOT telling folks is that if the bonds or some of them
fail, taxes will actually go down as these old bonds retire. With bad
weather forecast the turnout may be very low. The question is, will
the people suffering under the heavy weight of excessive taxes,
especially property taxes turn out to vote NO?
While we had a good turn out at the Rule of Law Rally this past
Saturday, it wasn't overflowing. I noticed Ben Fenwick of the Gazette
was present so it will be interesting to see what he writes. If he
attacks anyone it will probably be the nice little grandmother, Carol
Helm for comments she made about those who profit by the illegal
aliens being in our state.
She even mentioned she was disappointed Republican Senator, Harry (the
roofing contractor) Coates wasn't present to hear her talk. Lets see,
Harry Coates - roofing contractor, was the only Republican Senator to
vote against HB 1804 and now he wants to pull the teeth out of the
bill. I wonder if Immigration Control and Enforcement (ICE) has ever
determined if all of his employees are citizens or legal immigrants?
Maybe they ought to check him out. Ralph Bullard and Sam Antonio's
speeches were really great.
Another great organization to be involved with on the issue of illegal
aliens is the Oklahoma Minutemen. They will meet this Thursday evening
December 13th at 7:00 p.m. at the VFW Post 1857 at Northwest and
Blackwelder in OKC. They will discuss the final draft of the bylaws
and vote to form the New Oklahoma Minutemen organization.
I look forward to seeing everyone this Wednesday.

Just a reminder and a correction. The RULE OF LAW RALLY, will be held
this Saturday afternoon, 2:00 p.m. at the Character First Training
Center, 520 W. Main in downtown OKC. I put the wrong phone number in
this week's e-mail if you need more information. The proper number is
405 348-9991.
I have also found out State Representative Randy Terrill will be
speaking briefly along with Mr. Ralph Bullard, Carol Helm and our key
note speaker, Sam Antonio. Mr. Antonio is from San Diego, California
and is the national spokesman for the John Birch Society on the
illegal alien invasion issue. Not only is he full of important
information, I am told he is an inspiring speaker.
If you are paying attention to the news, you know several in the
legislature are going to try and neuter HB 1804, the legislation we
all worked on over the past 3 years to get passed. If they are
successful, the momentum will shift and the problems will illegal
aliens will continue to increase.
Your support and attendance is needed with the cost being only $15.
All proceeds will be going to support the efforts of, Oklahomans For
Immigration Control (I.R.O.N.). Not only must we defend what we have
obtained, there is still more we must accomplish until this problem is
brought under control. Folks can certainly purchase your tickets at
the door.
One more thing of which I will speak more about in the next e-mail. We
are going to change the location of our weekly meetings to Chen's
Buffet, located in the Windsor Hills Shopping Center, 23rd and North
Meridian in OKC. This is just 2.3 miles from our current location.
I hope to see everyone this Saturday.

We meet for lunch every Wednesday, 12 noon at the Asian Palace Super
Buffet, 39th and North Portland in OKC. This week we will watch the
video OBSESSION. I have wanted to show this for some time as it
reveals the hatred and the aggressive agenda which reigns in the
radical sectors of Islam. This video is a real eye opener, especially
when it comes to the connection with Adolph Hitler and the Nazi
movement. Be sure to come to further your understanding about the
serious issue with the rise of radical Islam.
For our many friends in the Tulsa area, this Tuesday evening December
4,th Oklahomans for Sovereignty and Free Enterprise (OK-SAFE), will
sponsor a Town Hall Meeting. They will show the 30 minute DVD,
"Pursuit of the North American Agenda" produced by Eagle Forum. The
meeting time is 6:45 p.m. and will be held at the Hardesty Library,
93rd and Memorial in Tulsa.
This coming Saturday afternoon December the 8th, beginning at 2:00
p.m., there will be a very important event in OKC. It is being called
the "RULE OF LAW RALLY." The purpose of the rally is to show support
for HB 1804, legislation passed earlier this year so the State of
Oklahoma can begin to deal with the many problems associated with the
invading hordes of illegal aliens.
Patriotic citizens in Oklahoma must not go to sleep on this issue. One
Republican lawmaker intends to introduce legislation to repeal HB 1804
during next year's legislative session. In addition, we have seen a
sizeable cadre of ministers and an Islamic cleric pronounce that they
will resist the law. There are also many in the press who continually
inundate the public with sob stories, I believe the purpose of which
is to change public opinion on this issue.
Speaking at the Rule of Law Rally will be Mr. Ralph Bullard,
Ambassador at large from Christian Heritage Academy, Mrs. Carol Helm,
founder and director of Immigration Reform in Oklahoma Now (I.R.O.N.),
and Mr. Sam Antonio. Mr. Antonio is the national spokesman for the
John Birch Society on the issue of illegal invaders and immigration
issues.
Mr. Antonio will explain how Washington political elites are using the
immigration issue to help merge the U.S., Mexico and Canada into a
North American Union (NAU). It is vital to educate the American people
that the illegal alien crisis is not an end in itself, but rather a
foundation for building the NAU.
There is a small fee of $15 to attend with all proceeds after expenses
going to support the ongoing work of I.R.O.N. For more information or
Tickets please call 405 384-9991 Monday through Friday or I will have
tickets available during our meeting this Wednesday. The location will
be the Character First Training Center, 520 West Main in downtown OKC.
If you have discernment, you are well aware that many Movie and TV
productions are subtly designed to create an anti-Christian bias over
time as well as normalize deviant behavior. According to an article in
this month's Journal of the American Family Association, the soon to
be released "THE GOLDEN COMPASS" film has the feel of a C. S. Lewis
based Narnia production to it but the resemblance ends there.
Golden Compass is based on a trilogy of books written by the English
atheist Philip Pullman. The gist of the trilogy is about "a battle
against the church and a fight to overthrow God." The producers are
spending a lot of money promoting this Christian hit piece, so my
question is how many believers will spend their hard earned money
going to see this production? Maybe a better question is, how many
shallow and undiscerning Christians will see it, think it was great
and promote it to others?
Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett has just reappointed many of the same
people to the Oklahoma County Library Commission who opposed removing
the books from the children's sections of the libraries which promote
homosexuality. I would say again, just how correct the voters were in
selecting Mary Fallin over Cornett in the run-off election for the 5th
Congressional district a year ago September. Mayor Mick professes to
be a Christian. Therefore Mayor Cornett, should you need the names of
people with high moral character, people of faith and family values to
serve on these kinds of important boards, just give me a call
(282-8711) and I can help you out.
I look forward to seeing everyone this Wednesday.

We meet every Wednesday for lunch, 12 noon, at the Asian Palace Super
Buffet, 39th and North Portland in OKC. Our scheduled speaker this
week is Tim Asher. Mr. Asher is the director of the petition effort
currently being circulated in Oklahoma which is designed to allow
Oklahoma citizens a vote to end the practice of affirmative action.
This effort is ongoing in several states, of which Tim will discuss
the importance of its passage and what that might mean for each state.
Liberals hate this petition, because it brings fairness to government
hiring practices and admission to government run universities. If we
have time we will also see a short new video, titled: BUILDING A NORTH
AMERICAN UNION - FACT OR FICTION?
With some frequency folks tell me they try to respond to our e-mails
by using the "reply" button, but to no avail. Google Groups will not
forward a reply to me. If you want to respond, you must send an e-mail
to my address, charliemeadows@peoplepc.com.
There is a lot going on this week so please pay close attention to the
following announcements. Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m., Americans
For Prosperity will host a Town Hall Meeting in Tulsa. The location
will be the Hardesty Regional Library, 8316 E. 93rd street. Tim
Phillips, National President of Americans for Prosperity will speak
along with U.S. Congressman, John Sullivan. They will discuss both
local and national issues regarding earmarks (pork-barrel spending),
school choice, accountability in government and etc.
Also on Thursday evening, The Academy of Leadership and Liberty,
located on the campus of Oklahoma Christian University, will host the
Hatton W. Sumners Distinguished Speaker Series featuring Mr. Tony
Snow. While there is no cost to attend, it does require a ticket. For
availability, please contact Christopher Malan at 405 425-1065 or e-
mail, academy@oc.edu. The event will be held in the Hardeman
Auditorium beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Friday night 6:30 p.m., the local chapters of the John Birch Society
will host their annual Christmas dinner and auction, at the beautiful
Grandison Inn, 1200 N. Shartel in OKC. Everyone is asked to bring 1
side dish and 1 dessert along with one or two nice items for the
auction. There is a cost of $5 per person to pay for the meat and use
of the facility. Please RSVP by 5:30 p.m. Thursday evening at
348-9991. As the auctioneer, I will wear my most FLASHY Christmas tie,
anyone deemed to have a more flashy tie than mine will have their
dinner paid for by me.
Also, on Friday evening as well as Saturday, Dr. Steve Kern will again
host his Creation Worldview Revival Conference at Olivet Baptist
Church, 1201 NW 10th street in OKC. The Friday meeting will be from 7
- 9 p.m. and Saturday the time will be from 9:00 a.m. until noon.
There is no cost to attend, However there will be materials available
for purchase should you decide to do so. Topics will include, The God
of Creation, The Worldview of Jesus, The Fall, The Flood and Babel
Reversed.
Sunday afternoon 2:00 p.m., the Oklahoma supporters of U.S.
Representative Ron Paul (R-TX), and one of this year's Presidential
Candidates, will hold a rally on the 2nd floor rotunda in the State
Capitol in OKC. Speaking will be Congressman Paul's son Robert, along
with State Representative Charles Key (R-OKC). In addition, an inter-
active replica of the Liberty Bell will be set up at the South steps
of the Capitol. Not only will folks be able to learn of its history,
but they will also be able to actually ring this giant bell.
Now please pay close attention. On Saturday night just before the
Sunday rally, the Ron Paul supporters are also hosting a banquet and
auction to benefit his Presidential campaign. It will be held, 6:30
p.m. at the Character First Training Center, 520 West Main in downtown
OKC. The cost is $30 per person to attend and reservations must be
made no later than Tuesday the 27th by calling 405 650-1756. I believe
the items to be auctioned have all been signed by Congressman Paul. I
have also been informed Robert Paul will be in attendance for the
banquet.
Thanksgiving day is probably my favorite holiday and I hope everyone
had a great time during this year's celebration. However, when I
opened my copy of the Oklahoman I developed another case of heartburn
and it wasn't from the wonderful feast my wife prepared. It came as a
result of seeing another puff piece on what should be called "the
Oklahoma loser," but is most frequently referred to as Amtrak's
Heartland Flyer.
Why do I refer to it as the Oklahoma loser? The article's title was
"Fort Worth beckons and train passengers increase." It is a loser
because, as the article suggests, more people get on the train to do a
round trip to Fort Worth than get on the train in Fort Worth to come
to Oklahoma. What do people do when the go to Fort Worth? They spend
money in Texas and not in Oklahoma. Texans are laughing all the way to
the bank. Way to go lawmakers, just a SMALL hit to our economy.
A couple of years ago when we had a chance to send The Heartland
Crawler back to the grave yard where it belongs, those brilliant
"economic development" geniuses at the state Capitol came up with an
annual subsidy to continue to keep it on life support. The next time
you wonder why we don't have better roads and bridges in Oklahoma it
is because lawmakers decided to throw good money down the deep, dark,
and dank hole of Amtrak.
The story was about an increase in traffic of about 6% this year over
last, thought the rider ship is still about 3,000 less than the first
year it was in operation. The story also contained exuberant comments
from those just about to ride the crawler. Let me just say this, to be
nice I don't believe most of the people who ride the train have ever
thought deeply enough about what they are doing to realize that they
are participating in the immoral practice of stealing the private
property of their neighbors and friends. In doing this they don't have
to pay the full fare for what is nothing more than a fun ride for most
of them.
Most people don't realize that the cost of a round trip ticket to Fort
Worth and back is about $50. However, the actual operational COST for
Amtrak to make that round trip amounts to about $400 per rider. Thus
each person is using the sword of government to take $350 in tax
dollars from their fellow Oklahomans so they can have some fun riding
the train. Of course on the other hand, if they do realize what they
are doing, in my opinion they are no better than a common petty
thief !!! Shame on them either way.
I guess by now you can tell I don't much care for Amtrak. Let me
explain. I believe in a free market driven economy. When there is a
REAL demand for some product or service, someone in the private sector
will provide it. If there are not enough people willing to pay a FAIR
market price for a good or service, then it will not exist. We used
to have passenger rail service provided by the private sector but the
rider ship dropped below cost so the private market quit the supply.
However, government socialists weren't about to let people be without
trains to ride. Therefore they lobbied Congress and formed a
government owned, government operated passenger rail company called
Amtrak. Not only were the taxpayers forced to spend billions of tax
dollars to establish Amtrak, each year they must also subsidize it
will billions more.
Let me make it clear, I am against the government going into business
and competing against airlines, bus service and the American families
who have to pay their own way when they want to go somewhere and then
are forced by the government to pay the way for someone else. Being in
the business to provide passenger rail service is an improper function
of government as well as being immoral.
I look forward to seeing everyone this Wednesday.

Members and friends of OCPAC meet every Wednesday, 12 noon, at the
Asian Palace Super Buffet, 39th and North Portland in OKC. Our speaker
this Wednesday will be Ed Moore. Mr. Moore has been a pastor,
missionary, boat builder and state senator. In 2006 he and his wife
Sandy founded a ministry called Prayer Force One to lead out in a
national call for prayer and spiritual renewal in America. Ed has
refurbished a Greyhound Super-7 Scenic cruiser which was built the
same year Air Force One was built. Both were re-furbished in 2005
using the same paint scheme. Ed will have the bus present and open for
tours after the meeting. He has also written a book by the same title
and will have copies available. In addition to discussion about the
ministry I have asked Ed to say a few words about Thanksgiving,
probably my favorite holiday. For more information log on to
www.prayerforceone.com.
In last week's special e-mail I made a brief reference to the
injustice done to former U.S. Senator Joseph McCarthy (R-Wisconson).
Over the weekend I opened my monthly Conservative Book Club offering
and the featured book this month is BLACKLISTED BY HISTORY - THE
UNTOLD STORY OF SENATOR JOE McCARTHY AND HIS FIGHT AGAINST AMERICA'S
ENEMIES, by M. Stanton Evans. The book represents almost a decade of
research and relies primarily upon first generation documentation,
information never before revealed.
I have ordered the book, but one might ask why should I care, those
things happened so long ago? The reasons are important because the
TRUTH of a matter is important. A great American patriot had his
reputation and honor tarnished by lies, so his honor deserves to be
restored by accurate history, not the revisionist history that
destroyed him. Also, many of the bad decisions made by policy makers
of today which affect the future of our nation are still being
influenced by the same enemies that McCarthy was trying to expose and
root out of government. One final reason, I love history.
Last week the Council of State Governments met in OKC, perhaps for the
first time. I believe this is a non governmental organization (NGO)
primarily made up of dues paying elected officials from across the
nation. Governor Henry is currently the President of the
organization.
One of the speakers this past week was Mary Peters, president Bush's
U.S. Secretary of Transportation. The President of OK-SAFE was able to
get credentialed by a national magazine to report on Secretary Peters
talk. Her speech was 100% predictable based on a forecast from one of
OK-SAFE's researchers. She extolled the virtues of Public Private
Partnerships (PPP's) as the way to fund our highways.
This shouldn't be surprising since President George H. Bush or Bush
"1" signed legislation opening the way for the PPPs to begin to
consume America's infrastructure. As time goes on almost anything
owned by government and paid for by the taxpayers will be on the
auction block to the highest corporate bidder as well as future
capital projects.
There aren't many times I agree with Governor Henry but I really take
my hat off to him this time. According to an article in the Tulsa
World this past Wednesday, the Governor indicated that he is not sold
on the idea of turning transportation infrastructure over to private
entities for PROFIT. The Governor is right on this issue. The private
sector MIGHT be able to build something for less than the government,
however the private sector's desire to return a maximum profit year
after year on that asset ends up costing the public much more in the
long term.
Bottom line is that government should do the things it is supposed to
do as efficiently as possible and the private sector should be kept
out of that arena. On the other hand, government should never, let me
say it again, never get outside of its proper realms and compete
against or partner with those in the private sector. What we need is
the proper understanding of those two realms and the commitment to
keep them separated. That is a valid debate in our society as to those
things which should fit into those realms or spheres of involvement.
I really do like State Representative Paul Wesselhoft, as he votes so
conservative on IMPORTANT legislation. However, again I am tearing out
the last few remaining hairs on the top of my head over legislation he
writes. Representative Wesselhoft issued a press release this past
week about legislation he authored last year to change the name of the
Oklahoma Office of Handicapped Concerns to the Office of Disability
Concerns.
"It was a wonderful sight to see," said Wesselhoft, (R-Moore). "It is
important that we be sensitive to the disabled community, making sure
they are viewed as people with disabilities and not 'handicapped.'
Representative Wesselhoft, thAT isn't even good political correctness.
What is the difference between handicapped and disabled? If you really
want to be touchy-feel-good and politically correct why didn't you
change the name to the "Office of Concerns for the Most Special"?
As for me, I would prefer to use the Biblical term and name it the
Office of Concerns for the Crippled, that is, unless it is an office
that shouldn't exist in the first place. The word crippled is not
derogatory. It is simply reflective of someone with less than
wholeness in one or more aspects of their being. A lack of wholeness
or being crippled, doesn't mean a person is not important or valuable,
especially in the eyes of God and it shouldn't be in the eyes of His
people. Many people who are crippled in one aspect of their being may
be very capable in other realms of their being. This race to become
overly sensitive, emotional and politically correct is going to make a
bald man out of me yet.
The Opinion page of the Wall Street Journal had an article titled:
Oklahoma's Most Wanted. They likened Attorney General Drew Edmondson's
discretionary prosecution of Paul Jacob, Susan Johnson and Rick
Carpenter to being as bad as one would expect in Pakistan.
The following is from the article: "After the Oklahoma Supreme Court
ruled, Attorney General Edmondson could have let the matter die.
Instead, he decided that the best use of scarce prosecutorial
resources was to indict the petition campaigners. There's reason to
believe his decision has less to do with enforcing the law and more to
do with warning activists to think twice before challenging political
elites."
One more paragraph reads: "The response is draconian and intended to
scare and intimidate," says Mr. Jacob, who also faces a fine of up to
$25,000 if convicted. "To get 10 years in prison for following what
you understand to be the rules of the petition drive would send a
chilling message, not only throughout Oklahoma but throughout the
country. That's not what we want people to be thinking about when they
consider whether to join a campaign to reform their government."
By and large politicians hate petition drives because the take power
away from them. I personally believe Edmondson is out of control. Even
his prosecution of Brent Rinehart and Tim Pope must be questioned
since it has been alleged Edmondson himself had campaign finance
irregularities. If my memory serves me correctly, Edmondson said he
was sorry, paid the money back and now has gone on to prosecute these
folks.
Again, thanks so much to everyone who has supported OCPAC by becoming
dues paying members. Besides record breaking membership for this year,
we are really growing in another aspect. At the beginning of the year
we had about 2,000 receiving our weekly e-mail. We are now nearing
2,300 which represents about 6 new homes each week. Of course, God
only knows how many actually receive the weekly messages as many folks
forward them to others. If you know someone who might want to receive
our messages, check with them and then send their e-mail address and
name to me at charliemeadows@peoplepc.com.I will add them to our
list.
We are not looking for people's names who don't want to receive the e-
mails. We want folks that are interested in information about
conservative organizations as well as important events. Also, the
conservative commentary and sometimes insider information from me each
week about Oklahoma politics, government and the culture war is
designed to inform as well as be thought provoking.
I look forward to seeing everyone this Wednesday.

This special e-mail is about a couple of time sensitive matters. First
I suggest picking up a copy of the current issue of the Oklahoma
Gazette at one of your favorite restaurants. On page 12 there is
"supposedly" a news article by Ben Fenwick of the Gazette about
immigration as a result of our OCPAC meeting on November 7th. I say
supposedly because it is anything but a news article. Just compare it
with the excellent news article by Michael McNutt of the Oklahoman
published on November 8th.
In my opinion, Fenwick's article is a classic example of a liberal
spin doctor resorting to what the left would normally call
"McCarthyism." It appears Fenwick tries to paint Representative
Terrill and the members of OCPAC as cold, insensitive, child hating,
racists. He then names several people in attendance which is intended
to result in the destruction of their of their careers or good name.
Most people call that guilt by association or McCarthyism.
For the younger readers of this e-mail, Senator Joseph McCarthy held
televised hearings during the early 1950s in an effort to weed out
Communist moles embedded in positions of the federal government.
McCarthy supposedly accused people of being Communists because they
associated with known Communists. They of course denied being
Communists and the liberal press claimed their reputations were ruined
by the reckless claims of McCarthy.
As a result, the media painted McCarthy as being the most evil man in
America. Subsequently, any conservative suggesting liberals were to
blame for problems or members of some subversive organization were
then labeled as a McCarthyite and that label was supposed to silence
the conservative. It had the effect of cowering them, or driving them
into a closet for fear of that dreaded label.
Truth is, with the fall of the Soviet Union and the opening of their
national archives as well as our government's transcripts of the
secret hearings held by McCarthy's committee being unsealed a few
short years ago, there are a lot of people who owe McCarthy an
apology. As it turns out, McCarthy was right on track and a great
American patriot. Ann Coulter's book TREASON deals at length with
clearing Senator McCarthy's good name.
It is so easy to see through Fenwick's efforts, He was not even slick
or even close to clever. While we are on the subject of the invasion
of illegal aliens, on Saturday, December 8th, the local chapters of
the John Birch Society will bring to OKC, Mr. Sam Antonio, their
national spokesman on this most serious issue of illegal aliens.
Hopefully, Mr. Fenwick will cover Mr. Antonio's talk and write a
quality news story rather than a yellow commentary disguised as a news
story. Please put the date on your calender and I will give more
details later.
There is also an excellent letter to the editor in the Oklahoma
Gazette by a Jo Rowan of Norman. Her letter is about the very good
article "What the truck" by Randall Turk, published in the Gazette on
October 10th. Turk's article exposed information about the NAFTA
Superhighway.
Right next to Rowan's letter to the editor is a lengthy letter by
Tiffany Melvin, Executive Director of the North American Super
Corridor Organization (NASCO). Tiffany is up to her old tricks again
working to dispel confusion over "a proposed NAFTA Superhighway." Her
job might be a little easier if she would tell her buddies to quit
using the term like they did in the program for the recent "Oklahoma
Global Fusion Conference" held recently in OKC. In case you skipped
over the name of the conference, let me say it again, GLOBAL FUSION.
If Melvin could just wipe out that long paper trail about the NAFTA
Superhighway then maybe those "fringe" organizations like OK-SAFE,
OCPAC and the John Birch Society would just go away. Maybe Oklahomans
would go back to sleep and the globalists could get their highways
built and "integration" could develop into something that would look
and function like a North American Union but of course they wouldn't
call it that. They would probably just call it a Security and
Prosperity Partnership, a (SPP).
Of course, there is that pesky ole Senator Randy Brogdon (R-Owasso).
You know, that mean old fellow that G.Gordon Liddy, nationally
syndicated radio talk show host, calls the most important politician
in America. That meany wants to introduce legislation to withdraw
Oklahoma's membership in NASCO. A membership in a non-government
organization (NGO), a private organization that has cost Oklahoma
Taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars over the past few years. If
I were Tiffany Melvin looking at that loss of money for an
organization I was the Director for I would probably not appreciate
Brogdon or the rest of us one little bit.
Again, be sure and pick up a copy of the Gazette while it is still on
the news stands. And of course log on to the web sites www.ok.safe.org
or www.jbs.org for accurate information about the NAFTA Superhighway
and the North American Union.
The other thing I want to mention was brought to my attention on
Thursday by Richard Engle, Vice Chairman of OCPAC. KTOK 1000 AM, has
been running ads by the advocacy group of the legislation recently
vetoed by President Bush to expand health care for about another 6
million children. Some of these little kiddies live in upper middle
class homes whose parents can well afford the insurance for their own
children. The ads are targeting U.S. Representative Tom Cole, urging
his constituents to call him to pressure Cole to vote for an override
of the President's veto. I suggest calling Congressman Cole's offices
to tell him to stand with the President on this one. His Washington
office number is 1 (202) 225-6165. In the Norman area call 405
329-6500, in Lawton call 580 357-7477 or in Ada call 580 436-5375.
Following, I am going to attach a version of two of my columns on this
issue which were published in the Edmond Sun Newspaper. Before I sign
off, my article in the Sun due to be published today is about
Thanksgiving in America's hometown, Plymouth Mass. Oklahoma will be
honored in this year's festivities with Mr. Ralph Bullard and some
others from Edmond participating in those celebrations. Pick up a copy
of the Sun if you have a chance, it is a real tribute to some great
Oklahoma patriots who have a passion for the accurate history of this
nation being inculcated into the minds of Americans everywhere.

Thanks President Bush
While President Bush's veto of the expanded version of the State
Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIPS) is appreciated by
conservatives, unfortunately it is too little and way too late. During
his first term as President many Republicans began to wake up to the
fact that President Bush was a big spender.
I used to have Republican friends hope he would begin to use his veto
pen on some of the big spending bills presented by a Republican
controlled Congress. My quip to friends was, it would be embarrassing
to veto legislation he was proposing, at least in principle if not the
actual piece of legislation.
However, now that the Democrats are not in control of both houses of
Congress, President Bush is beginning to use his veto pen. At issue as
of Wednesday was an unacceptable expansion of the SCHIP program which
actually shouldn't exist in the first place. Me thinks I just crawled
out on a limb about the size of a twig with that statement, but please
hear me out.
With all due respect I must disagree with parts of fellow Edmond Sun
columnist Mickey Hepner in his September 9th column "Family friendly
focus will help America Improve." On some days I think professor
Hepner writes with his right hand then on other days he must use his
leftist hand. Then of course I believe he writes some columns with
both hands. To crawl a little further out on that twig I must also
disagree with the Sun's Publisher Rick Barnes and his ever bigger
government ideas as expressed in his "Ramblings with Rick" columns on
August 26th and September 30th. Both he and Hepner call for making
more families dependent on government.
I am mostly bald as a result of tearing my hair out after listening to
too many people like Mr. Barnes use terms like "something needs to be
done for our children's future," "investing in our youth," "children
are our most valuable renewable resource," "our children (or our
people) are our greatest assets," as well as they are "entitled to,"
"entitled to" and "entitled to."
Assets and resources are things that are owned, controlled and used.
These entitlement statements would be true if we want to live under a
socialist or fascist form of government. However, I much prefer the
ideas of liberty provided for by the principles found in our
Constitution and its extreme limitations upon the purposes and
functions of the federal government.
Any reasonable person knows our children will grow up someday to be
the people who make things happen and provide leadership. Wise people
know the importance of investing in the "training up" process of
children. Reasonable people also understand that people from more
affluent homes generally have more opportunities than those with
little means. Yet, even in the America of the past when we didn't re-
distribute as much wealth as we do today, very poor people with few
opportunities as children, still grew up to obtain greatness and
wealth. To understand that, just Read Justice Clarence Thomas' new
book about his life.
In a free society, it isn't the government's job to re-distribute
wealth to try and level the playing field. It is the government's job
to execute justice as well as protect the fairness of the free and
private enterprise system. Thus providing for the general welfare so
individual people within society may excel and achieve or stumble
trying.
Great people in great societies know the importance of charitable
(voluntary) giving to help the less fortunate. Just think, if we
didn't already have such a large welfare-entitlement state, all people
would have more money for their own family's needs as well as more to
give in the form of charity. How about an income tax check off box for
Mr. Barnes and Hepner as well as others to pay more in taxes
specifically for the insurance needs of the less fortunate?
Therefore, President Bush please keep plenty of ink in your veto pen.
There are still a few self-respecting and honorable citizens who
wouldn't take the welfare and entitlement help even if it were
offered. To do so, either out of ignorance or bad character is to
participate in little more than legalized plunder.

Charity is Good, Thievery is Bad
In his October 21st column (A father, a Christian, a citizen finds
disappointment), Mickey Hepner appealed to the readers of the Edmond
Sun, not as an economist but on a more emotional and moral level. He
ends his column stating he will never give up trying to get the
government to do all they can to help our families. What he is
wanting, is for the federal government to provide health care for
another "5.8 million children" or in other words to move us a little
closer toward full blown socialized medicine.
What I found interesting was his statement, "Whenever I read my Bible
the message is clear: God is calling each and every one of us to help
those who need help." Then the second sentence later he said, "As a
Christian, I believe our leaders should do more to help our nation's
children." Here is my question to Mr. Hepner; is it our responsibility
as parents and individuals to help children, or is it the
responsibility of the government?
I believe he has inadvertently posed a question which should be one of
the most important debates of our day, especially for Christians. We
could couch the debate in terms of "the tyranny of good intentions" or
perhaps, "the morality or immorality of government provided social
benefits."
Let us suppose I am a do-goodie, egalitarian, busy body of moderate
income with a tinge of guilt about my prosperity. After all, there are
others in society who have less than I do. To relieve my guilt and
make me feel better, I decide to help some of my friends. One of my
friends has no health care funds for his children, another wants to
have a super big birthday bash, another friend had terrible damage to
his home from the Oklahoma winds yet with no insurance and no money to
repair his home and one more friend loves to ride trains. My last
friend could only afford about $50 of the actual $400 cost of riding
the Amtrak train to Ft. Worth and back.
Wanting to help my friends but not wanting to spend much of my own
money, I decide to play Robin Hood and go down the many streets of
Edmond knocking on door after door. I would DEMAND of each of my
neighbors $100 to use to meet the various needs or desires of my
friends. If my neighbors refuse, I will pull a gun from my coat and
forcibly take the money from them. Under that scenario, we would call
my actions extortion, thievery or armed robbery? That activity would
be illegal, immoral and an attack on my neighbor's private property,
even though the use of the money might be for a good cause? Wouldn't
we just say that behavior was blatantly wrong?
However, if I were to get all of my friends together to become a
majority and thus vote to DEMAND my neighbors each pay the government
$100 to give to my friends, what would we call that behavior? Helping
families, Oklahoma's Centennial Celebration, storm disaster relief,
and economic development. Hey, the majority voted to re-distribute one
persons private property (money) to another, so doesn't it make that
re-distribution of wealth moral and ok to do?
If the neighbors decided not to pay taxes to be re-distributed to my
friends, wouldn't government agents eventually show up on their
porchs? Wouldn't the government agents eventually draw their guns if
necessary, to remove the neighbors from their premises so their
property could be sold to satisfy governments declared obligations?
If it is immoral for me as an individual to re-distribute my
neighbor's private property for the social benefits or desires of my
friends, then it is ALSO immoral for government to do so. As a matter
of fact, that is a violation of the 8th commandment, thou shall not
steal. A majority of voters do not determine morality, God does.
Biblically speaking, there is no doubt Christians are to pay taxes.
The real question is, what are the proper functions of government for
which we are to pay taxes, verses activities that are improper or
immoral?
I would suggest that paying taxes for a military, roads, sewers, water
systems, courts, prisons, police, and fire protection are all proper
functions of government. However, paying taxes for social benefits,
needs or desires of my friends would be nothing more than legalized
plunder. If we fail to draw the line of improper functions of
government at social needs, as well as see that as a moral issue, then
all we will ever do is argue over how much of each others private
property we will re-distribute. If you are one who believes in
restraint, you will always lose because there will never be an end to
the tear jerking cases to keep expanding the amount we pay. Then
someday we will finally reach full blown socialism.
Mr. Hepner needs to understand, we should help people through charity
which is always given voluntary. We should never help people through
government, because government has nothing to help others with except
government first takes from someone else. Christians need to honor the
8th commandment, not violate it.

Members and friends of the Oklahoma
Conservative Political Action
Committee (OCPAC).
We meet every Wednesday, 12 noon at the Asian Palace Super Buffet,
39th and North Portland in OKC. Our first speaker this Wednesday will
be State Representative Sally Kern. Representative Kern just returned
from David Barton's annual legislators conference where they learned
there are 3 homosexual billionaires who are putting an enormous amount
of money into efforts to defeat social conservatives. This last
election cycle they targeted 70 races and took out 20 of the good
guys. Sally will talk about their methods and who they might target in
Oklahoma. Our main speaker will be Dr. Johnny Roy. Dr. Roy was a
candidate for congress during the past election cycle. What many
people may not know is that he was born in Iraq and educated there in
the medical profession before coming to the USA many years ago. Dr.
Roy will talk about the many factions in Iraq and what he believes are
the many blunders made by the administration in trying to put together
a working government in such a difficult region. We will also honor
our veterans as well as active duty military folks during this week's
meeting.
This Wednesday morning, Mr. Ralph Bullard will be the speaker at this
month's Business and Professional chapter meeting of the John Birch
Society. The meeting is held at the Character First Training Center,
520 West Main in OKC, with breakfast starting at 7:00 a.m. and his
talk beginning at 7:30. Mr. Bullard served as headmaster of Christian
Heritage Academy in Del City for over 30 years and currently is an
ambassador for the school. He is a top notch historian and will talk
about our nation's rights and responsibilities to establish law
regarding immigration.
As a point of interest, Mr. and Mrs. Bullard along with two other
couples from Edmond will leave the next day for Plymouth Massachuset
to take part in the week long Thanksgiving celebration. All three of
the Oklahoman men making the trip serve on the board of the Plymouth
Rock Foundation headed by Dr. Paul Jehle. Many consider Dr. Jehle
America's foremost authority alive today on the times, places and
events of the founding of this nation from the arrival of the Pilgrims
through the time of our war of Independence.
During each year's celebration, Dr. Jehle highlights the westward
expansion of our nation and the spread of the gospel. Since this is
our Centennial year, the Oklahoma group will be featured in the famous
parade by riding in a covered wagon. I urge everyone to set your
alarms to get up in time to come hear Mr. Bullard talk from his grasp
of history and his life experiences at this Wednesday's breakfast.
Beside the Birch Society breakfast and OCPAC's noon luncheon on
Wednesday, there will be another important speaker during the
Wednesday evening meeting of the Tulsa chapter of the Oklahoma
Republican Assembly. Stuart Jolly, State Director of Americans for
Prosperity will talk about their organization's agenda for this year's
legislative session. The meeting will be held at the Golden Corral on
71st Street and Mingo. It will begin at 6 for dinner and 7:00 p.m. for
Mr. Jolly's talk.
We had a great meeting this past Wednesday with Representative
Terrill. He revealed many of the points to his proposed legislation,
"Son of HB 1804." We had a fair amount of media present with Michael
McNutt of the Oklahoman, writing an outstanding on point article about
the content of Terrill's talk, which was published in last Thursday's
Oklahoman. I hope you got a chance to read it.
This past Wednesday evening former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum (R-Penn)
spoke to a group of people on the OU campus about "the gathering storm
of the 21st century: America's war against Islamic Fascism." I thought
his speech was well laid out and right on point. He reproved President
Bush for labeling it as a war on terrorism rather than a war against
the radical elements of Islam. He also pointed out the hypocrisy of
liberals in this country who support radical Islamists when the agenda
of the Islamic radicals is counter to everything liberals stand for.
However, the main thrust of his speech was a warning to moderate
members of America's Islamic community. His point was that they have a
problem within their ranks and it is their problem. They must address
it and solve it. If not, he gave a subtle warning that should another
attack be carried out on American soil, life for American Muslims will
become very difficult.
Following his talk there was an instant line behind what was supposed
to be a microphone for questions. All but 2 people in the line were
members of the Muslim community. For the most part they were not
students but ardent supporters of Islam. The next hour of accusations,
charges and speeches toward the Senator rather than questions was
painful to sit through. However, if any students had any doubts as to
how difficult it is to reason with members of the Islamic community, I
believe they went away without a shadow of a doubt. It was like a vail
covered their eyes and ears as I don't believe they agreed with or
heard a word of Senator Santorum's talk. Following is an address where
you should be able to listen to the Senators speech for yourself:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=8049132273944037164&hl=en.
Speaking of viewing speeches, Wednesday evening October the 24th I had
the privilege of speaking to an outstanding group of College
Republican on the campus of OSU in Stillwater. If you have more time
on your hand than you know what to do with you might want to view that
talk at the following address:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1216456254939595776&hl=en.
It is that time of the year again when lawmakers are announcing their
up-coming legislative ideas and some of them fall into the lunacy
category. A few weeks ago Senator Kenneth Corn (D-Poteau) announced
legislation to allow all graduating high school seniors to attend,
free of charge, any government owned junior college or career-tech
school in the state. Senator Corn, Karl Marx would be proud of you.
Folks some students should go to college. Some might need to access a
trade school or enter the career-tech system. However, many of our
young people upon graduation from high school aren't ready for college
nor should they waist their time and the taxpayers money by attending
a government run career-tech center. They simply ought to get a job in
the real world and work. Some might seek further education some time
later in life, but many should simply be productive in whatever field
they have a penchant for. They might even step into those jobs being
vacated by illegal aliens leaving our state for more friendly
environs.
This past week, Representative Jabar Shumate (D-Tulsa) announced he
would introduce legislation to penalize petition circulators who
misrepresent the content of a petition, thus seducing some poor victim
into signing the petition. Right on Jabar, you want those brilliant
light bulbs known as John Q public, many of whom can't even fill out
their information correctly, to testify that a circulator misled them?
I have an idea, why doesn't Jabar author legislation penalizing
politicians running for office who mislead the voters when they are
asking them for their votes? Talk about the need for clarity and
honesty, start with people such as yourself Jabar.
Another one of the economic geniuses at the Capitol, Representative
Mike Shelton (D-OKC) called on the Governor to create an emergency
commission to work on a plan of action to address rising fuel costs.
He of course wants more public transportation. I have an idea, since
people can live almost anywhere they want, why don't we "suggest"that
people who struggle with high fuel prices re-locate to a place near
their work place as well as basic necessity shopping needs. This
would greatly reduced driving needs which will save fuel and give
relief to their personal budget needs.
Most of us don't appreciate the increased fuel prices, not even some
in the petroleum industry. However, we need to understand, high prices
are the market talking to us about supply and demand, which is
intended to cause some of us to re-order our lives. Gone forever are
the days of inexpensive fuel prices, at least as far as fuel produced
from oil. We live in a day where world demand is threatening to
outpace world output. There are many reasons we are in this situation
of rising fuel costs at this time in our history. We may have a
program some time in the future on this issue. Shelton's idea of
increased public transportation is not the correct way to deal with
the problem.
We have received several new memberships in the past few weeks from
people all over the state of Oklahoma. So far this year we have 149
dues paying members which is a 50% increase over the 99 dues paying
members during 2005, the most recent off election year. We had 190
members last year but we always have more members in an election
year.
Many people have come to realize our efforts to elect true
conservatives from all over Oklahoma are being successful. We use our
PAC money to elect the best, reward the best freshmen for governing
well, protect conservative incumbents from liberal challengers as well
as exposing and pressuring the liberal RINOs (Republicans In Name
Only) to either govern better or be replaced.
Many are contributing who may never, or rarely have an opportunity to
attend a meeting, but they believe in what we are doing.
If you have not joined our efforts as yet please consider doing so. I
want to say a special thanks to the growing number of folks who allow
us to draft their checking account for either $15 or $30 each month.
Those folks who join our Elephant Provider or Elephant Provider and
RINO Hunter clubs really make a big difference in the amount of money
we are able to raise to fulfill our mission. Still, the majority of
our members join at our basic membership level of $50 per year.
Believe me, those amounts really add up.
Perhaps one of the best things about contributing to OCPAC is that
none of us receive any money for our efforts. We are all volunteers.
Therefore, your contributions go for the intended purpose and aren't
burned up paying the salaries of people who work for the PACs or the
Republican Party. To join, please follow the instructions below.
