I see great potential in Northeastern Oklahoma for a breakout in business and the creation of high paying jobs.  Although this potential cannot be realized until the obstacles are addressed.

The small business community is the largest employer in Northeastern Oklahoma yet, is penalized by some of the highest costs in the nation just to open the front doors.

The heavy boot of taxation, workers compensation and insurance is breaking the backs of our small business community and discouraging other business from coming to Oklahoma.  Also, the lawsuit lottery bullseye that is painted on the back of every property owner makes for far too many sleepless nights.  Furthermore, the promises of fancy politicians and slick lawyers, over the past 80 years, who tell us that they want to remove the heavy boot rings hollow.  On top of it all, the liberal Supreme Court has threatened the years of hard work of all Oklahomans by their insane ruling on Eminent Domain.

The average salary in Northeastern Oklahoma is $24,000.00, and our best and brightest have been leaving in droves just to find jobs that pay enough to raise a family.

While this sounds bleak, Northeastern Oklahoma has plenty going for it.  From resources to land prices to a port that reaches the world.  Also our weather and way of life is perfect for recruiting manufactures along with other business.

By rolling up our sleeves and tackling the issues that drive out business we can create a business friendly environment that will provide high paying jobs.

The biggest obstacle preventing Oklahoma from growing, as described by scores of businessmen, is the huge profits the trial lawyers enjoy by not changing our system.  We can be a world force while strengthening all the protections of the work force and environment.

I am committed to enacting meaningful lawsuit reform that will protect small businesses, medical providers and the rights of all Oklahomans.  Without it we can never expect lower insurance or medical costs.  I will also work to continue lowering the cost of workers compensation while strengthening the real benefits. I am also committed to enacting true tax relief.  But, without real property protection for all Oklahomans none of the other reforms will matter.

When the business community thrives the entire community thrives and our kids will not have to leave Oklahoma just to find work that will allow them to raise Oklahoma’s grandkids.

Send me to Oklahoma City and we can realize the great potential of Northeastern Oklahoma.
